Choir Information
Description
From the early 90s there had been an interest at Auckland Grammar School in Barbershop chorus singing a genre that attracted a number of students. In early 2006, with the appointment of Ewan Clark to the music department, this group underwent something of a metamorphosis a name change to GRAMMAR VOICES and a deliberate widening of the repertoire to include the standard mens choral literature. Over time, this became the prime focus of the group and it began to take part in THE BIG SING and performed also at school and community events with growing artistry. From 2009 the conductorship was passed to Terence Maskell who directs the choir at this event. This is the first time that GRAMMAR VOICES has attended a Finale, and from a school where the acknowledged emphases are on sporting and academic achievement, the singers are very proud indeed to be singing on this occasion.
History
Began in the early 1990s with Barbershop and in early 2008 there was a widening of the repertoire with Ewan Clark The current conductor is Terence Maskell.
